Global insanity
So with a global recession, massive oil spill, U.S. immigration fiasco, an unending war in the middle east, and countless other daunting issues I awake this morning to discover that Lindsay Lohan is wanted for missing a court date. I am so amazed at Americans ability to allow the media to distract us from the real issues. I mean how can we justify this as news with all the other problems the world is facing? Have we been so programmed to except the end of the world through organized religion and movies that we are allowing it? What needs to happen before a global outcry for change can be heard over the sound of money changing hands? If this is evolution I'm not sure that we should be happy with the outcome.

Expensive week
So I had to take Bubbers to the vet yesterday after he got stung by something. His nose swelled up to about twice the size and his little belly was covered in hives. Poor little guy had to have a cortisone shot and is now on antibiotics for the next ten days for the infection he caused scratching at the sight. After a ten minute visit and a $140.00 vet bill I am thinking that I should have been practical and just become a veterinarian.
To continue the expensive week theme we took the truck in today for service and was greeted with a bill for $650.00. I just love these weeks when you seem to hand out money like it grows on trees. I'm so happy all is taken care of and the little man is going to be all better shortly and the truck is being repaired. I do wish that some days I hadn't followed my heart and gone to art school. Why couldn't I have had a passion to be an accountant at least then I would have a steady paycheck and people wouldn't treat me like a second class citizen for not having a nine to five job.

Bubbers
Aloha again from Maui. Another day in paradise and Bubbers is sick. I think that he is having an allergic reaction to something. Spoke with the vet and they said to give him Children's Benadryl. His nose is all red and he has a few little cuts that have been bleeding. If it continues through tomorrow I will have to bring him in to get checked out. Hope all is well with everyone. Take care and Aloha.

Aloha Friday from beautiful Maui. The sun is shining the birds are chirping and a cool breeze is gently blowing through our apartment. I should be preparing to go to the studio but instead I keep toying with the idea of playing hooky. I just want Steve to call and say he is Pau Hana for the weekend and on his way home. It would be nice to just walk the dogs together make dinner and crash out to a movie. I think I just made up my mind! If this is paradise where could we possibly ever go from here? I hope that you all have a wonderful night. Aloha

How do you market yourself?
So another day in paradise and I am trying to figure out how to generate interest and traffic to www.etsy.com/shop/CDSOdesigns. I know that I have a unique sense of style and design but how does an artist share their voice and ideas in today's global media? Is it possible to be heard without a considerable budget and a marketing team? How do I even begin to find people that have the ability to bring my work to the attention of the masses? I understand that everything has to start somewhere and at the moment my somewhere happens to be Maui. With this thought in mind I am going to bring my work to local shops and see what they say. Wish me luck and keep checking back for more questions than I have answers for. Aloha from Maui....

CDSOdesigns launch on etsy
CDSOdesigns is a line of jewelry designed and created on Maui at the HUI NO'EAU visual arts center by my partner Steve Olivieri and I (Chad Durgan). With a background in design and sculpture we've had a great time learning a new visual process. Creating jewelry has given us the opportunity for my partner and I to bring our love of art and design together creating a line of jewelry with our aesthetics and influenced by life in Hawaii. Some of our pieces can be found in the Hui No'eau gift shop and in our new etsy.com shop. Please check us out daily as we are in the process of adding new items.
